If there was one single place that housed all the things in the universe I find near and dear to my heart, this is who would greet you at the gate. One of my favorite images from my recent Unnatural Selection show, is of one of my all time favorite creatures. The Guardian is 12×22″, $45, and printed with archival inks on acid free velvet cotton rag paper and a limited edition of 50. Each print is hand signed and numbered, available in the store page.

I’m excited to be part of this show, opening at Modern Eden Gallery, on June 22nd. “Fiction” is the second annual portrait exhibition curated by gallery co-owner Bradley Platz. Following June 2012’s ‘Notorious’ exhibition, this dynamic group exhibition presents portraits of characters from literary fiction imagined by top contemporary artists. From classic literature to modern novels, participating artists have chosen subjects that span a range of narratives and eras, but are united by their place of birth on the printed page.

Featured artists are: Jasmine Worth, Chrystal Chan, Soey Milk, Craig LaRotonda, Glenn Arthur, Lee Harvey Roswell, Melissa Morgan, Sandra Yagi, Chris Sedgwick, Albert Ramos, Scott Holloway, Bradley Platz, Amy Minchew, Terry Ribera, Jaxon Northon, Edith Lebeau, Lance Hewison, Leilani Bustamante, Catherine Moore, Robert Bowen, Sidharth Chaturvedi, Christina Lank, Ahren Hertel, Kassie McMahon, Akira Beard, Henry Schreiber, Brianna Angelakis, Alec Huxley, and Laura Buss.

The opening reception for “Fiction” will be held at Modern Eden Gallery, 403 Francisco Street San Francisco, on Saturday, June 22nd from 6-10pm. Select featured artists will be in attendance at the reception. The exhibition will be on display through July 13, 2013 and is free and open to the public.

For my contribution to the show, I chose to tackle the fascist pig Napoleon from Animal Farm.

April & May Shows, 6 of ‘em!

April and May have been busy and exciting months for group shows, 6 of them! All of which I’m honored and proud to be a part of. The most recent being one of my favorite annual group shows, Gag Me with a Toon. This is the 5th installment of the show, co-curated by Steven Daily and Tomi Monstre, and my 3rd year of participation. The Show opened at WWA Gallery in Culver City on May 4th and runs through June 1st. This year I chose to paint the biggest asshole of all Eternia / Don Rickles of villians, Skeletor. “I Must Possess All, or I Possess Nothing”-Skeletor

May 3rd was the opening of The Fantastic 50, at 111 Minna Gallery, here in home base San Francisco. The show was curated by Irene Hernandez-Fieks of Wonderland SF. if you’ve ever been to 111 Minna you know it’s a huge space, and the entire thing is filled with beautiful works hand picked by a good eye, Kudos Irene! The show runs through the month of May.

My contribution to the show is “The New Biology Coccinellidae”

Also in San Francisco, at Varnish Fine Art, is Decade-1, a show celebrating their ten year anniversary. Co-owners Jen Rogers and Kerri Stephens consistently put together shows of the highest caliber, whether group or solo, and this is one more that proves why they are ten years deep and stronger than ever. I’m really proud to be included in this show, you can get a look at the entire show HERE and runs from April 20th-May18th

I had the pleasure of being asked to participate in Visions and Reflections over at Gauntlet Gallery. The show features 50 San Francisco Bay Area artists all working in a 12×12″ format. Thanks Luke for inviting me into this one, it was fun to do. Last but and definitely not least, my longtime friend John Stuart Berger curated a show in Sacramento over at Fe Gallery called The Slippery Slope. John and I have been friends showing art in the same circles for over ten years and I always look forward to seeing what he’s doing next. The show opened on April 13th and was up through the first week of May.

Number 8 in my Lucky Strike series is now available as a limited edition print. Not only do wasps do a great job of scaring the shit out of you, some of them are also decent at pollinating. Few creatures are able to make a creature 50x its size run from them screaming like a little girl while doing Mother Nature’s happy work. So here’s to the W.A.S.P. EyeCandy opens at WWA Gallery March 30th & Game On at 1AM Gallery March 22nd

I’m very excited to be part of this very special group exhibition, “eyeCandy”, opening at WWA Gallery on Marh 30th. I am completlely honored to be showing with the likes of Charlie Immer, Aaron Jasinski, Jason John, Ken Keirns, Gabe Larson, Edith Lebeau, Audrey Pongracz, Arabella Proffer, Brandi Read, and Gustavo Rimada. If you find yourself in the Los Angeles/Culver City area be sure to check it out. It runs March 30th-April 27th.

Also in March, I’m happy to be part of “Game On”. opening at 1AM gallery on March 22nd. One my most recent and favorite paintings of late is now available as a limited edition print. Seahorse 2 was a recent expansion of my equestrian/cephalopod hybrid take on natures own bizarre seahorse. It weighs in at 12×22, Limited Edition of 50 and printed with archival inks on acid free velvet cotton rag paper.
Each print is hand signed and numbered.

I’m also happy to put out my latest T-Shirt in the form of another painting in the Lucky Strike series, W.A.S.P. (We Are Superior Pollinators) printed on a WHITE American Apparel Unisex Tee.

This series of paintings is a bit of a departure from some of my pop-culture driven images of the past. (Not to say I won’t return to that, but this is where I am at for the moment. I see both plaguing my future.) All the paintings in this show are of an animal nature, depicting birds, insects and sea life, several of which are from my Lucky Strike series that combines animals with mechanical elements or engine parts. There is a certain tragic beauty about these malfunctioning hybrid creatures, and I cannot look away. They are a constant source of inspiration.
